Cvstos was founded by Sassoun Sirmakes and Antonio Terranova in 2004. Mr Sirmakes is the son of Vartan Sirmakes, Chairman of the Franck Muller Watchland Group, while Mr Terranova is a designer who has done work for Breiting and Zenith, amongst others. Interestingly, Mr Sirmakes was only 20 years old when he founded the company. Cvstos makes watches in two shapes, tonneau and round, called the Challenge and Challenge-R respectively. Not surprisingly, if one examines the Challenge watches, they are distinctly similar to the Cintrée Curvex cases of Franck Muller. Many have noted the despite the similarity in design between Cvstos and Richard Mille, there is a vast difference in technical innovation and finish. While true, it’s important to remember the vast difference in price between the two - the average Cvstos costs only 10% of a Richard Mille. The Pagani Zonda F is one of the fastest and most expensive cars in the world, so it’s no surprise a luxury watch dedicated to the car is now available. The Zonda F watch is a Valjoux-based chronograph with power reserve indicator and offered in yellow or rose gold, or titanium. ![]() Challenge Zonda F in rose gold
Cvstos also introduced several new complications for 2007, including a minute repeater with tourbillon and a perpetual calender with tourbillon. But because I only visited Watchland and not the Cvstos showcase at the La Reserve hotel, only the Pagani chronograph was available to be photographed. Photos of the other watches will be posted soon on HOME. Click here to go to coverage of the next brand (F. P. Journe),
