Grazing Italian with watchtalk in Geneva

The PuristS' visit to Geneva in October 2003 included an unassuming Italian meal at 'Senso Ristorante & Bar' on the rue du Rhône, just a little further west from the Audemars Piguet boutique. In London and Dublin, people use pubs and churches for street directions. In Geneva, we have to use watch companies and boutiques...

Unbeknownst to many, it was the surprise guests of honour who were the 'speciality' of the evening - Mr and Mrs Philippe Dufour, who had travelled down from Le Sentier to share a meal with us.

Entrance

Italian décor.

Wine rack.

Entrance

Simple nibbles - parmesan cheese. This was most yummy and went delightfully with any pre-dinner drink.

WINES & WATER

White wine for the table.

Red wine for the table.

VOSS artesian water from Norway. One could imagine the pure glacial waters of the frozen north seeping into the wells.

SELECTION OF STARTERS

Carparccio of 'bambino' venison.

Smoked trout.

Delicately smoked without harshness or bitterness.

SELECTION OF MAINS

Pork and pears?

Beef rosti.

Risotto with truffles.

Italian manna from Heaven...

Pan fried pike perch.

Mr and Mrs Dufour + PuristS group = watchtalk.

The genial Mr Dufour.

The charming Mrs Dufour, who married Philippe at the Swiss Church in London.

Chestnut purée and vanilla ice-cream dessert.

Autumnal flavours in Geneva included pumpkin soup and roasting chestnuts at every street corner.

Pannacotta cheese and raspberries?

OTHER DELIGHTS

Here is what Mr Dufour had on his person when we frisked him:

A simple watch Nr.000.

A simple tobacco.

4 spare pipes.

5th pipe in-use.
